The Decree on Child Protection.
Policy regarding background checks for teaching and nonteaching employees and for volunteers who have direct contact with students.
All employees and regular volunteers who have direct contact with children at St. Mary Central School must complete acceptable criminal background checks through fingerprinting in accord with the current policies of the Diocese of Steubenville Decree on Child Protection; and may not have contact with children until accepted background checks through fingerprinting are completed. All employees and regular volunteers must complete both a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal records check every five (5) years. For auxiliary service personnel, such as school nurses, psychologists, etc., who are government employees or subject to state regulations, the school principal shall obtain copies of both a Bureau of Criminal Investigation and a Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal records check every five years from the employer of auxiliary service personnel.
The Diocese of Steubenville Decree on Child Protection went into effect on October 2, 2009 with it's latest revision in 2019. All employees as well as all regular volunteers who work with youth in the
Diocese of Steubenville must complete an online program on the provisions of the Decree made available through CMGConnect.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
